Winnie Mathis

Winnie Dell Mathis, 82, of North Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on October 12, 2012, at NorthCare Hospice House having been surrounded by her family. Services will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at 2 pm in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. Burial will follow the funeral at Maypearl Cemetery. The family will greet guests from 1-2 pm on Sunday before the services at the funeral home. Winnie was born in Eastland, Texas on March 6, 1930, to Mary and Charlie Thomasson, the fourth of six children. She lived in Texas much of her life and moved to the Springfield, Missouri area in 1989. She later moved to North Kansas City to be close to her daughter, son-in-law, and two granddaughters. Winnie retired from Piccadilly Cafeteria in Springfield and was a member of the Hopedale Baptist Church in Ozark, Missouri. She loved spending time with friends and family especially attending family reunions in Texas. She was always enthusiastic about playing cards or Rummikub. If the TV wasn't on an old western then you could count on it being tuned to the Fox News Network. She collected teapots and had an extensive assortment brought by friends and family from around the world. She also collected dolls and had a special love of Madame Alexander dolls. She was loved by friends and family and will be missed immensely. Winnie is survived by her daughter Desda Clark and husband Joel of Parkville, Missouri, granddaughters Emily of Kansas City, Missouri and Kayla Clark who attends Baylor University in Waco, brother Cecil Thomasson and his wife Carol of Richardson, TX, along with many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
