Willie Johnston

Willie Johnston, of Waxahachie, passed away December 29, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born to Wade David and Celie Nora (Key) Coulson on October 18, 1930. She grew up with her three brothers and two sisters working on the family farm together hoeing and picking cotton.  Graduated from Waxahachie High School (class of 1949) and the same year, met the love of her life, Glenn Johnston and married on October 8, 1949. She was a stay-at-home Mom for many years until going to work at Hagger Slacks and worked there for 25 plus years till closing their doors in Waxahachie. She then worked at Odom’s Rental and Odom’s Pawn Shop for several years, enjoying her time spent working with the Odom family. She spent her last 15 years working 2 days a week at Pearman Oil enjoying all her time there and meeting and making many new friends.

Her passions were quilting, sewing, gardening, camping with family and friends, baking her special mini pecan pies, and looking forward to her Sunday afternoon drives in the country with her sister Katherine.

Willie is preceded in death by her husband Glenn Johnston, Grand-daughter Amy Johnston Ray, her parents, 2 brothers, W.D. Coulson and Henry Coulson. Brother-in-law Bobby Goodwin and Sister-in-law Marilyn Coulson.

She is survived by her two sons, Randy Johnston and wife Annita and Ricky Johnston and wife Rhonda. Three grandsons, Derek Johnston and wife Paige, Luke Johnston and wife, Emily, and Jake Johnston. Two great grandchildren, Hattie and Ellis Johnston. Two sisters, Katherine Goodwin and Janie Moses and husband Glynn. Brother Dewey Coulson and wife Wilma and Special friend, Brenda Beck.
