W. Brown Chiles, age 78

W. Brown Chiles, Jr., 78, died at home Sunday, May 29, 2005. He was born in Waxahachie to W. Brown and Lenna (Houser) Chiles, Sr. A graduate of Waxahachie High School, he was a four star letterman and Captain of the football team. He pursued his education at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where he lettered in baseball and football and received his Business degree. He was a devoted husband to Wanda Williams Chiles, his high school sweetheart, whom he married June 4, 1948. He retired from ACF Industries in Houston in 1982, where he was a Comptroller for over 30 years before returning to Waxahachie. He was an avid sports fan and golfer. He belonged to the Horned Frogs Lettermen's Association, the Waxahachie Lions Club, the Waxahachie Country Club and the First Christian Church.

Mr. Chiles is survived by: his wife, Wanda Chiles of Waxahachie; his brother, John Houser Chiles and his wife, Marie; and his cousin Betty Jean Allen, all of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Eva Brewer Lasswell Chiles.

The family will receive friends and relatives 5-7 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 2 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2005 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Gary Bronson, former pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Waxahachie City Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the Waxahachie Foundation, TCU toward an athletic scholarship, The American Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.
