William Houston "Buster" Parten, age 88

Buster passed away Monday night at Baylor Medical Center Dallas. He was born in Forreston, TX. to Cleo and Katie Miranda (Moses) Parten. He served in the US Army from 1942-1945. Buster was decorated with the American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars and the Bronze Arrowhead, Philippine Liberation Medal with one Bronze Star, good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon 1 Service Stripe and three overseas Service Bars. He received an honorable discharge December 29, 1945. Mr. Parten retired from General Dynamics in 1972. He was also owner of Buster's Drive In from 1968-1972. He was a member of the Farley Street Baptist Church.
Buster is survived by: his wife, Ruth Parten; son and daughter-in-law, David and Janet Parten; daughter, Linda Gale Keith, all of Waxahachie; two sisters, Virginia Booher and husband Bub and Dorothy Story of Waxahachie; two sisters-in-law, Betty Parten of Arlington and Mary Parten of Burleson; grandchildren, Stacey and Dale Burleson, Melissa and Richie Morris, B. J. Parten and Robin, Stephanie Parten, Brittany Parten, Tyler and Bradley Parten, Caleb Parten; and three great grandchildren, Brandt and Blake Burleson and Allie Parten. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Myles and Barkley Parten.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Thursday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Friday, December 3, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Reverend John Shipman officiating. Pallbearers will be Sonny Wylie, John Hardy Carroll, Bruce Parten, Richard Curry, Burns Mitchell, and Jimmy Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Henry Kelley, grandsons and great grandsons. Interment will follow in the Waxahachie City Cemetery.
