Mr. Newton passed away Sunday morning at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas.
Mr. Newton "Bill" was born in Sayre, Oklahoma to Harley and Gussie (Sanders) Newton. After graduating from High School he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Newton was a longtime railroad man working as Road Master for SanteFe/Katy/OKT/ and Union Pacific railroads for 42 years retiring in 1995. Bill married Ellen Briscoe May 10, 1982 in Marshall, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years Ellen Newton of Red Oak, 4 sons; Jim Conine of Dayton, Texas, Bob Newton of Midwest, Oklahoma, Bruce Newton of Moreland, Oklahoma, Bryon Joe Newton of Red Oak, Texas, 2 daughters; Robin Young of Roanoke, Texas, Toni Williams of Red Oak, 1 brother Buddy Newton of Saint Paul, Kansas and his Aunt Leola Moxon of Lefores, Texas. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; Ashlee Newton, Steven Dunbar, Chase Newton, Katie Newton, Zachary Conine, Josh Resie, Megan Wilborn, and Sarah Wilborn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will recieve friends and relatives from 5 to 7 PM Thursday evening at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
The Celebration of life will be 10 AM Friday November 21, 2008 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Jerry Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Oak Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Vincent, Steven, Tim and Patrick Hernandez, Jonathan and Jason Williams and Shorty Wilborn.
Honorary Pallbearers will be; Wendy Wilburn, Lee Roy Anderson, Paul Berry, Paul Potter, Jr Reed, Carol Morgan, and Walter Newton, Alex Hernandez, Steven Martchenke, and Ronnie Stevens.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the Cal Farley's Boy's Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
