William Edward Jenkins, age 84
June 5, 1921
March 26, 2006

William E. Jenkins, age 84, passed away peacefully in the presence of family members on March 26, 2006 in Waxahachie. He was born in Wheatland, Pennsylvania, to Isabel Stringer and Trevor David Jenkins and lived the past 30 years in Reagor Springs.
Mr. Jenkins was a member and elder of Central Presbyterian Church and former organizer of the Coalition of Senior Partners in Waxahachie. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Pennsylvania and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. A veteran of three wars (World War II, Korea, and Vietnam), he rose to the rank of colonel prior to his retirement. He received numerous decorations, including the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Stars, Bronze Stars, Purple Hearts, and French Croix de Guerre. He was a man of action who adored his family and had a soft heart for animals and youth.
His survivors include his beloved second wife of 31 years, Dorothy Jean Harris Milam; daughter Sharon Clark of Mansfield; two stepdaughters, Saundra and husband Mike Whisenant of Murphy and Cynthia and husband Allen Faries of Austin; grandchildren Julie and husband James Robinson of Plano, Adam Whisenant and wife Stephanie of Forney, Steven Davis of Mansfield, and Samuel Faries of Austin; great-grandchildren Rebecca and Reid Robinson of Plano; brother Robert and wife Shirley Jenkins of Sharon, Pennsylvania; and sister Marilyn Jenkins of Masury, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Trevelyn Jane and Carole Unger, brother Trevor David Jenkins, first wife Helen Marie Hoffman, and son Paul Edwards Jenkins.
A memorial service will be held at Central Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of William Jenkins to Central Presbyterian Church, 402 N. College, Waxahachie, TX 75165, (972) 937-2924.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
