William Compton

April 8, 1954 — October 2, 2015

William Randle Compton was born in Grand Prairie, Texas April 8, 1954 to parents W.A. Compton Jr & Billie Jean Davis Compton. He was adopted at the age of four and raised by his uncle and aunt P.W. & Mable (Compton) Watson. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Italy where he was baptized at a young age. He grew up in a farming family in Italy, TX where he attended school and graduated from Italy High School in 1972. He also attended Hill Jr College and began work right after high school at Tyler Refrigeration where he remained for over 33 years until they closed their doors in 2006. He then began work at Cowboy Church of Ellis County in 2006 as custodian taking care of the buildings he loved until no longer able to work and leaving on disability in March 2014. Randy married his high school sweetheart, Vicki Kay Rudd, on September 20, 1974 at First Baptist Church of Italy. They made their home in Italy and were blessed with two daughters, Brandy Rebecca & Rachel Leanne who both attended and graduated from Italy High School. Randy was a member of the Italy Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, serving many years as the chief. He was also president of the South Ellis County Little League for many years and coached baseball. He also coached peewee football and girls' softball. Randy & Vicki moved to Waxahachie in 2002 to be closer to their daughters and grandblessings. They became members of Cowboy Church of Ellis County in 2003. Randy was a quiet man who lived his life with honor and dignity and tried to instill those qualities in his daughters and grandblessings. Randy fought a long brave battle with Head & Neck cancer and was called home to rest on Friday October 2, 2015. His family would like to express how very blessed and honored Randy and his family were by all of the love, support, and prayers they have received the last few years from their wonderful family, friends, church family, and coworkers. He was blessed to be able to take several "bucket list" trips and make precious memories with his wife and family. They were blessed to have excellent care and guidance from their physicians and nurses the last 3 ½ years. The family would like to express a special thank you to all of the caregivers from Bristol Pathways Hospice. He is survived by Vicki, his wife of over 41 years, daughter Brandy Compton Ramirez of Waxahachie, daughter & son-in-law Rachel Compton Lemire and husband Rob of Waxahachie, and former son-in-law Frank Ramirez of Waxahachie.
