Wilburn Thorn

Wilburn Lloyd Thorn, 94 of Lancaster , Texas passed away Monday, March 04, 2013 in Gilmer , Texas . He was born on May 06, 1918 in Kerns, Texas to the late William H. & Tommie Quinn Thorn. Wilburn attended schools in Kern, Texas and after school he joined the U. S. Army where he served in WW II and the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Red Oak, Texas . He will be dearly missed by his family and everyone who knew him and loved him. Wilburn is survived by three sons: Bill Thorn of Gladewater, Texas; Larry and Nancy Thorn of Fairview, Texas and Jerry and Tammy Thorn of Kaufman, Texas, one daughter and son in law: Carolyn & Robert Arie of Tool, Texas. Nine grandchildren: Sonnie Arie of Jackson, Mississippi, Jesse Arie of Tyler, Texas; Ryan Thorn of Princeton, Texas and Shane Thorn of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Jason Thorn and Angel Thorn both of Kaufman, Texas and Kelly Scott, of McKinney, Texas and Kristin Mauritzen of Little Elm, Texas and Russ Thorn of Grandview, Texas. Numerous Great Grandchildren and host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Dana Thorn, a son Melvin Thorn, his parents and several brothers and sisters. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, March 08, 2013 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Pleaman Arie officiating. Interment will follow at the Red Oak Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday, March 07, 2013 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
