Weldon B. Hatch III, 65, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015, in Waxahachie. He was born July 19, 1949, in Hobbs, New Mexico, and was raised in Alvarado, Texas. He was a graduate of Alvarado High School and attended the University of Colorado. He was an avid outdoorsman and certified Texas Master Naturalist. Weldon was filled with wisdom, knowledge and humor which he shared freely. He was the inspiration for many people's love of the outdoor world from the smallest child to the curious adult. You never knew what great discovery he would pull from his pockets to share - fossils, seed pods and snakes could appear in a moments notice. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, Billie and Asa Hatch. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan Hatch of Waxahachie; brother, Thomas Hatch of Cleburne; daughter, Sara Hatch Mitchell and her husband Vernon Mitchell; son, Brad Hatch and his wife Michelle Hatch; and two young grandsons, Garrett Hatch and Elijah Mitchell. Weldon will be sorely missed by so many who will never forget him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to fund camp scholarships to Camp Fire Camp El Tesoro, 2700 Meacham Blvd, Fort Worth, Texas 76137, www.campfirefw.org, 817-831-2111 or the Fort Worth Nature Center, 9601 Fossil Ridge Road, Fort Worth, TX 76135, www.fwnaturecenter.org, 817-392-7410.
