Weldon Harwell

Weldon Joe Harwell, 66 of Waxahachie passed away Monday, July 07, 2014 in Dallas. He was born May 16, 1948 of Rio Vista, Texas to J.W. & Edna Marie Matthews Harwell. Weldon was a longtime member and usher at the Oaks Fellowship Church in Red Oak, Texas a church he dearly loved. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, car enthusiast, loved playing the piano and at one time played with Conway Twitty. Weldon worked for Carlisle Chevrolet in Waxahachie for many years as a car salesman. Thru Weldon's battle with cancer he never gave up his faith and fought cancer to the end. He will be dearly missed by his family and everyone who knew him and loved him. He is survived by his wife: Jean Harwell of Waxahachie, Texas; his mother: Edna Harwell of Waxahachie, Texas; 1 son: Cody & Ana Harwell of Waxahachie; 1 step son: Heath Salik of Waxahachie; 1 Daughter: Carrie Harwell of Waxahachie; 1 step Daughter: Kasee Salik of Ennis, Texas; 1 Sister: Mary J.& Jackie Sims of Cedar Hill, Texas and a brother in law: Walter & Ann Watson of Waxahachie, Texas. 7 Grandchildren: Addyson Harwell, Tanner, Bryse, Xavier, Zach, Nicholas and Liza. Weldon was preceded in death by his father J.W. Harwell. Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the Oaks Fellowship Church in Red Oak, Texas with Rev. Scott Wilson, Rev. Tom Wilson and Rev. Mike Bray officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 09, 2014 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jarrett Pendley, Eddie Williams, Barry Gurley, Austin Blankenbecker, Kenny Meador and Jerry McGinnley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tres Blankenbecker, Walter Watson, Dr. Davis Morgan and Gaylon Abernathy. The family asks that donations be made to the Oaks Fellowship Church in Weldon's name.
