Wayne Niel Shipp (USN Ret) was born February 13, 1939. He passed away at home on July 16, 2021. Wayne was born to Nimrod and Audrey Shipp in Princeton, Texas. After graduating from Dimmitt High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for twenty years prior to retiring. After retirement he enjoyed several careers including time with Audrey’s Bake Shop, Radio Shack, Western National Life Insurance, and Waxahachie I.S.D. He was a resident of Waxahachie and a member of First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie. Wayne was affectionately known by many as “Chief”.
He is preceded in death by his father, Nimrod Shipp, mother, Audrey Washington, sister, Nancy Shipp, and brother, Saylor Shipp.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jane Ann Shipp of Waxahachie, TX, sister, Claudia Clements (Gene) of Tyler, TX and a brother, Jon Washington (Sherry) of Waxahachie, TX. He is also survived by his son, Michael Shipp (Cindy) of Wynne, AR, son, Daniel Shipp of Fayetteville, NC, son, Jerry Shipp of Waxahachie, TX, daughter, Leigh Ann Tipping (Craig) of Mansfield, TX, and son, Brandon Bolin (Withers) of Austin, TX; Grandchildren Daniel Shipp (Kristen) of Raeford, NC, Thomas Jay Shipp (Amber) of Colorado Springs, CO, Maggie Garcia (Jeremy) of Waxahachie, TX, Parker, Alexis, & Easton Tipping of Mansfield, TX, Bennett and Abigail Bolin of New York City, NY and Lawson Bolin of Austin, TX, and Joshua Shipp of Wynne, AR. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
Wayne’s wit, wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by both family and friends.
