Wanda Belle Smith Coffey

Wanda Belle Smith Coffey was born on October 7, 1923, to Dewey and Mary Smith in Grandview, Texas. She passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Dallas Reginal Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas.
Wanda graduated from Palmer, Texas, where she played basketball. She married Oran Coffey on April 10, 1943, and they were owners and operaters of the Lovin Oven Bakery in Lancaster, Texas, for 10 years.
Wanda was a member of the First Christian Church of Waxahachie for 30 years where she served on the membership committee for 15 years and was recently honored as an elder emeritus.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Oran Coffey; her parents, Dewey and Mary Smith; her daughter, Mary Mahone; her granddaughter, Linde Coffey; son-in-laws, Charles Mahone and Hughie Edwards; and infant brother Charlie Lee Smith.
Wanda loved and took great pride and joy in her family of 6 children, 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Wanda leaves behind her sons, Oran Glynn Coffey of Whitney and Phillip Coffey and his wife, Cynthia, of Leonard; her daughters, Glenda Hall and her husband, John, of Waxahachie, Lisa Dickert and her husband, Tom, of Ovilla, and Teresa Edwards of Waxahachie; her brother, Glynn Smith and wife, Jan, of Waxahachie; her sisters, Betty Owens of Red Oak and Margie Anderson of Toole; her sister-in-law, Darlene Hurst of Rockett and brother-in-law, Vernon Coffey and wife, Marjorie, of Red Oak; Wanda leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Gary Bronson officiating. Interment will follow at Bells Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
