Wanda Chiles

March 8, 1926 — July 17, 2013

Wanda Helen Williams Chiles, born March 8, 1926 in Waxahachie, died July 17, 2013 at Buffalo Creek Assisted Living at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 57 years, W. Brown Chiles, Jr. and her parents Ernest and Eva York Williams all of Waxahachie. Wanda graduated and was class beauty in 1943 of Waxahachie High School and she attended Texas Christian University. During Brown's working years they lived in Houston then retired to Waxahachie in 1982. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Waxahachie. She served as a volunteer at the Baylor Medical Center of Waxahachie. She is survived by her cousins, Michael and Janis York of Irving, Robert W. and Carol Cook of Granbury, Charles M. Cook of Kansas City, KS, Robert M. Jones of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Linda Jones of Northridge, CA, Ken Longhenry of Garland; brother-in-law, John H. Chiles of Dallas; her lifelong friend, Betty Jean White; and her devoted caregiver, Mrs. Charles "Tiny" Price. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Waxahachie City Cemetery. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Sims Library or the new Baylor Medical Center of Waxahachie, currently under construction.
