Wanda Bales, 80 of Waxahachie, passed away Monday, February 25, 2008 in a Red Oak Nursing Home. She was born to the late Virgil & Beatrice Clanton on May 18, 1927 in Whitesboro, Texas.
Wanda loved to crochet and was very talented. She enjoyed working in her greenhouse at home and growing beautiful plants. Wanda and her late husband, Lawrence, retired from the nursery business in Waxahachie, working together managing and owning Bales Green House. She and Lawrence were also very active in the Waxahachie VFW. She attended the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie. Wanda was very dedicated to her family and loved spending time with all of her grandchildren. She will be missed very much by so many who knew her and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Donna Rogers and her husband, Jerry of Midland, Gordan Ballard of Venus, Linda Ballard of Waxahachie, Janet Pickett and her husband, Michael of Waxahachie; her sister, Mary Cassel of Louisiana; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Lawrence J. Bales; son, Johnny Lee Ballard; sister, Dorothy Krone; brother, Delbert Clanton.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie with Dr. Leroy Fenton officiating. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday,
February 27, 2008 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
