Walter "Buddy" Banks

Walter “Buddy” Browning Banks III, 80 of Waxahachie, Texas passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019 in Waxahachie, Texas.  Buddy was born on July 18, 1939 in Waxahachie Texas to the late Walter Browning & Virginia Lyon Banks, Jr.  He was a graduate of Waxahachie High School in 1957 and later a graduate of East Texas University where he was a member of the Rodeo team. After serving in the Texas Air National Guards he moved back home to manage R-K Fertilizer for two years until it sold to Monsanto Company and was employed by them for eighteen years as plant manager and area supervisor.  He married the love of his life Janice Hayes on May 18, 1964.  Buddy was very involved in his community for many years, he served as Chairman of the Agricultural Commission, Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, Director of the United Way West Ellis County, member of the board of First United Methodist Church and Bethel United Methodist Church, Chairman of the Ellis County Agricultural Appraisal Board and was a board member of NRICS for twenty plus years. Buddy managed ranches in Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky and Texas, owner of Ennis Auction Company and was a founding partner of MBS Seed from August 1989 to August 2015. He will be dearly missed by his family and all that knew him and loved him.

Buddy is survived by his wife Janice Banks of Waxahachie, two sons:  John and Jim Banks both of Waxahachie, Texas; two daughters:  Beth and Bryan Johnson of Waxahachie and Amy and Shane Leath of Waxahachie. One sister: Martha Knox of Waxahachie; one sister in law:  Judy Demoney of Waxahachie, Texas; 8 grandchildren:  Tyler and Megan Johnson, Jackson and Georgia Leath, Milton and Nicky Banks, Bryce Dryer and William Lane.

Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie with Brother Grady Cashion and Pastor Glen Null officiating.  Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery.

Visitation with the family is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Johnston, Gary Buckholtz, David Hornick, Jim Beller, Ray Lynn Campbell and Ron Elmore.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Mathis, J B Sims, Ken Davis, Dan George, Don Walker, Patti Junkin, Beverly Horac, Betty Sue Almand, Dr. Tommy Menser and Scott Rodgers.
