Walter Christy

September 20, 1942 — August 22, 2017

Born in Lawrence, Kansas, Walter Keith Christy graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with his bachelors and master degrees in education. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado while raising his two children David and Dana alongside his wife, Randi.
Keith was an educator for Colorado Public Schools for thirty-five years, starting as a teacher, then moving to vice principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and ultimately serving as superintendent. He was a professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, helping Ph.D.
candidates with their theses.

Keith, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 22, 2017, at his Waxahachie home with his wife Ellen and family at his side.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Christy; daughter, Dana Lynn Christy; six grandchildren, Christy & Josh Dickerson, Jacob & Emma Tittle, Cody Tittle, Austin Tittle, Morgan Christy, and Harrison Christy; brother, Han & Junghi Christy & Haedo Chun; daughter in-law, Susan Christy; brother in-law, Bill Vanney; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Also surviving are his wife's four children: Stephen & Marla Prewitt, Wendell & Stephanie Prewitt, Danny & Mania Prewitt, and Karol & Gary Gilbert; her grandchildren: Alyssa & Emily Prewitt, Albree, Kelton & Mikayla Prewitt, Mary Ellen Prewitt, Rebecca, Rachel, Lyndon, Trevor, Travis and Erin Prewitt, Amanda & Ricky Alvarado, Ryan & Maggie Gilbert and Hannah Gilbert; her great-grandchildren: Annastacia, Giovanni and Haytham Prewitt, and Cooper Alvarado.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Walter Christy; mother, Edith Elizabeth Mollhagen Christy; sisters, Judith H. Reynolds and Jeanette Flora Vanney; wife, Randi Gerettson Christy; and son, David Wayne Christy.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Farley Street Baptist Church located at 1116 Brown Street in Waxahachie.

Thank you to Keith's many caregivers and to the employees and nurses at Bristol Hospice Pathways. "Oh, how he loved each and every one of them"!

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Keith's memory to the Farley Street Baptist Church or Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie.

Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie is in charge of the arrangements.
