William Marshall Naylor, age 86
June 20, 1919
November 8, 2005
Willie Marshall Naylor, Bill to everyone who knew him, was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Joe F. Naylor, Ringgold, TX. He was born in Clay County on June 20, 1919 and was a graduate of Ringgold High School. In January of 1942, he joined the U. S. Army Air Force, serving in the 14th Photo Reconnaissance Group, 8th Air Force and was stationed at Mount Farm, England for three years. On October 3, 1945, he received his discharge and returned home the next day to a blind date with his future bride, Miss Patricia Adams. They were married on April 21, 1946.
In Fort Worth, TX., Bill began the sheet metal apprentice program working days learning that trade, and for three years he attended school two nights a week. He became a journeyman sheet metal worker in 1949 and was a member of Local 68, working his trade until 1977. At that time, he underwent triple coronary bypass surgery. Following that event, he worked as an estimator on many world-wide construction jobs for the Sam P. Wallace Company. He put all this knowledge and experience to work evenings teaching sheet metal apprentices at Skyline High School in Dallas during the 1970's.
Bill became a Christian at age 36. He worked with the Royal Ambassadors, taught a Sunday school class of 15-year-old boys, worked in Training Union and served as a greeter at First Baptist Church in Waxahachie where he has been a member since 1958. He was a volunteer for the Salvation Army, Waxahachie, for several years and loved helping people.
He was an excellent handy-man and could do so many things, especially in the field of construction. Bill was an avid reader and could discuss almost any subject. He loved young people and they loved him. He was a loving son and son-in-law, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a faithful, loving husband for almost 60 years. Bill had many friends and relatives and enjoyed them all.
It was his privilege to walk five young ladies down the aisle to be married, including his own two daughters.
Bill was the father of three children, Terry, Paulette and Kathy. They loved him greatly, respected him, and sought him out for his advice and wisdom.
Bill is survived by: his wife, Pat; son, Terry Naylor; daughter-in-law, Trish Naylor; daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Stephen Rook; daughter Katherine; and an "adopted" daughter Elayne Larussa. Surviving family also include his grandchildren, Gary Brown and his wife Lacy, Chris Rook, Emily Haney, Kacey Naylor, Foster Naylor; his three great grand children Easton, Caton and Morgan Brown; his sister Mildred Leeper of Nocona, TX.; his brother and sister-in-law M. R. and Beverly Naylor of Abilene, TX.; a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers, and one son-in-law.
The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Thursday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Mr. Naylor's Life will be 2 PM Friday, November 11, 2005 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Drs. Leroy Fenton and Shane Kinnison officiating. Pallbearers will be Gary D. Brown, Chris S. Rook, Patrick Foster Naylor, Dennis Naylor, Michael Naylor, and Steven Naylor. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Burial Park.
