Virginia Godfrey

Virginia (Tiny) Ruth Watson Godfrey, 86 of Waxahachie, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011 in Waxahachie. She was born to the late John Garland Watson and Mona Quida Fondren Watson on August 31, 1925 in Forreston, Texas. Virginia graduated in 1942 from Forreston High School. She attended business school and worked in Dallas until 1946 when, at the age of 21, she went to work for Lone Star Gas. She retired in 1986 after 40 years of employment with Lone Star Gas. Virginia (Tiny) married T. C. Godfrey on June 15, 1947 in Forreston, Texas. Virginia was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie where she was a member of the Elizabeth Sunday School Class and volunteered for the Baylor Auxiliary. She is survived by her cousins, Ann Breeding of Crosby, MN, James Toone of Pecas, Texas, Betty Love Johnson of Shreveport, LA, Jo Anna Lattery and Kay Nielsen of MN; and numerous other cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, T. C. Godfrey and her parents. Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Jerry Lemons officiating. Interment will follow at the Forreston Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie. Those serving as honorary pallbearers include Floyd Luttrall, Don Simmons, Cotton Stewart, Horace Bratcher, Mike Harwell and Richard Todd.
