Mrs. Banks, a lifetime Waxahachie resident, passed away Monday evening at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie. She was born in Waxahachie to Horace and Nettie (Hassell) Lyon. She was a graduate of Waxahachie High School. On December 28, 1935 she and W. B. Banks, Jr. were married in Kaufman, TX. She was a homemaker. A lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and UMW.

Mrs. Banks is survived by: son, Walter B. "Buddy" Banks and his wife Jan of Waxahachie; daughter, Martha Knox, also of Waxahachie, sister, Ruth Cochran of Cleburne; six grandchildren, Beth Banks Johnson and husband Bryan, Amy Banks Leath and husband Shane, John Banks and wife Sheli, Jim Banks and wife Dianne, Jinna Russell and Trey Knox and wife Dawn; twelve great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hugh Banks, Lawrence Banks, Vernon Ashton, Wendell Dover, Annie Mary Bradley, Carrie Williams and Betty Banks ; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband "Bully" in February 1996; four sisters, Verna Stephenson, Vera Pruett, Nettie Lee Dover and Ann Ashton; and three brothers, Milton, Gordon and Lawrence Lyon.

The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 PM Wednesday evening at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM Thursday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Richard Reed officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews: Scott Williams, Phillip Cochran, John Cochran, Bill Pruett, Frank Bradley, Jim Stoffregen, Teddy Stoffregen and Billy Stoffregen. Interment will follow in Waxahachie City Cemetery.
