Virgil Curry, Jr., 70 of Waxahachie, Texas passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 in Dallas, Texas. Virgil was born on April 03, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Virgil & Pauline Fife Curry.
After high school he served in the U S Army. He was a member of the Farley Street Baptist Church, was Past Worshipful Master of the Waxahachie Lodge, and a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. He worked with the Master Builders and at Passion Play in Eureka Springs. He was blessed to have so many special friends that were like family. Virgil loved everything in life but really enjoyed fishing with his boys and friends, golf, and riding his motorcycle. He was a true Christian, loving husband, brother, father, papa and friend.
He is survived by his wife Lewayne Putman Curry; Children: Karen Tenery, Wes Curry and his wife Christie, Andra Curry and Billy Ogelsby, Andrew Curry and wife Shelley, Two siblings and spouses; Pat and Don Jordan and Virginia and Raymond Henderson, Brother in law Al Putman and his wife Karen. Grandchildren: Garret and Hunter Tenery, Cody Penny, Bailey DeBorde, Cheyenne Brown, Mattie and Cash Curry and Ian Putman; Nieces and Nephews: Doug Henderson, Vicki Coulton, Julie Lynn, Janet Lee, Kim Russell, Keith Putman and Justin Putman. Also survived by his two fur children: Lexy and Biskit.
Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 12:00 PM, at the Farley Street Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
Virgil was a person that never met a stranger and would do anything for you, he touched so many people's lives and so many touched his, a special thanks to his Dr.'s and nurses at the VA Dallas, VA Richmond, UTSW and VCU. Virgil had a heart problem starting in the 1990's and was blessed to receive a new heart four years ago this month. He passed away because of a fast spreading small cell carcinoma cancer but his heart was good until his last breath. If you knew Virgil you were a blessed person. He is in a better place but will be missed so much. We will see you soon.
