Vernon Thomas, Sr., 70 of Ennis, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2008 in DeSoto.

Vernon was a 32 degree Mason Scottish Rite. He was a long time resident of Ellis County where he enjoyed being a farmer and rancher.

He is survived by his loving wife, Olga "Augie" Thomas of Ennis; daughter, Sandra Roldan of Corsicana; step daughter, Misty Ahearn and her husband, Chris of Tucson, Arizona; sons, Vernon Thomas, Jr. of Corsicana, Ronald Thomas and his wife, Julie of Waxahachie, Jeff Thomas and his wife, Michelle of Palmer, and John Thomas and his wife, Kasha of Palmer; brothers, Bill Thomas of Haughton, Bobby Thomas and his wife, Gloria of Dawson, Don Thomas and his wife, Naomi of Corsicana; sister, Mildred Speckter and her husband, Bill of Arlington; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
