Mr. Vernon Harper passed away Saturday in Grapevine. He was born in Palmer, Texas to Charles E. and Bertha (Dahnke) Harper. He was a member of the Elmwood Methodist Church in Dallas.
Vernon retired from Roadway Express in 1977 after 30+ years in the trucking business in Dallas. He moved to Whitesboro, Texas after retirement and returned to the Dallas area in 1995. He was a quiet and gentle man who loved his family and was an ever-faithful father and grandfather. He had fun going to the lakes for fishing, had a passion for baseball and loved to play dominoes and WIN!
His survivors include: his wife, Juanita of Dallas; daughters, Sue Aldridge and her husband Van of Grapevine, Norma Fincher and her husband Joe of Lake Dallas; grandsons, Steve McGuyer and Gary Fincher; granddaughter, Carrie Moses; five great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Walker of Flower Mound, Wanda Stacks, Patsy Heard and her husband Archie all of Palmer; sister-in-law, Agnes Harper of Dallas; plus many other family members, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Bertha Harper; stepmother Edna; infant daughter, Georgia Ann; and first wife of many years, Estelle; brothers, Ralph and C. L. Harper; and sister, Mary Bailey.
The family will receive friends and relatives 5-8 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of his Life will be 2 PM Wednesday, March 7, 2007 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Coy Quesenbury, pastor of the Lonesome Dove Baptist Church of Southlake, officiating. Pallbearers will be Steven McGuyer, Gary Fincher, Dale McGuyer, Cory Fincher, Eli Fincher, and Charles Harper. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carrie Moses, Brendon McGuyer and Stephanie McGuyer. Interment will follow in the Palmer Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
