Family visitation for Mr. Vernon Freeman, 91, of Waxahachie, Texas will be 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Freeman died May 15, 2013 in Carthage, Texas. Services will conclude in Waxahachie, Texas with burial in the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery. Mr. Vernon Freeman was born February 13, 1922 in Yantis, Texas to Barney Lee and Nettie Estelle Melton Freeman. He was schooled in Beckville later married Daisy Marie Works April 23, 1942 and they celebrated 71 years of marriage together. He served his country through the U.S. Army during WWII receiving the WWII Victory Ribbon, Combat and Infantry Badge, American Theatre Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with Two Battle Stars as well as serving in a P.O.W. camp in Germany. Mr. Freeman worked as a machine operator for Jefferson and Smurfit. Vernon loved his family and fishing with his grandkids. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Arvel O. and Tad Freeman, sisters, Edna Waldrop and Ivy Robinson. He is survived by his loving wife, Daisy M. Freeman of Waxahachie, children, Robert Barney Freeman and wife Pat of Red Oak, Patricia Ann Parks and husband Perry of Beckville, grandchildren, LaDonna Gail Hampton and husband Derrick of Monet, AR, Lisa Barron and husband Tim of Mansfield, GA, Rhonda L. Scroggins and husband Craig of Mansfield, Randy W. Sharpston of Wolfe City, Ryan W. Sharpston and wife Patti of Garland, Keri Byars of The Dalles, OR, and Greg Parks of Austin, nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
