Vera Wheatley

Vera Wheatley, 98, spent most of her life in Ellis County and she lived most of those years in Waxahachie. Vera was born in Crisp, Texas, and in 1931 married Pierce Ewell Wheatley. Ewell died in 1991. They raised two sons in Waxahachie, Dwaine and Mike. Dwaine and Linda have two children, Karen and Kyle. Mike and Betty have one daughter, Susan. Vera has seven great grandchildren. Vera came from a very large family of twelve brothers and sisters. She was the youngest of all twelve, and all of the other eleven predeceased her. During all her years in Waxahachie, she and her family were members of the College Street Church of Christ. She thoroughly enjoyed watching all forms of sports that her boys were involved in, especially football and baseball. For many years, the Dallas Cowboys could not have had a bigger fan than her. Visitation will be held Monday, January 20, 2014 at 12pm at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
