Vera Pauline Hooper, age 78

Mrs. Hooper passed away Wednesday morning at her Waxahachie residence. She was born in Heavener, Oklahoma to Wayne and Ava Frances (Modlin) Himes. After graduating from Heavener High School, she attended South East State in Durant, Oklahoma, then graduated from Oklahoma State University receiving her Masters Degree in Home Economics. She married Bob Hooper in March 1962 in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Hooper was Home Economics Instructor for the Extension Service for several years and taught science at Heavener Junior High School. After retiring in 1990, they moved to Mansfield, Texas where they resided for eight years before moving to Waxahachie in 1998. She loved to cook, sew, paint, and collect rocks. Mrs. Hooper was a member of the Grace Church of Ovilla.

Her survivors include husband Bob Hooper of Waxahachie; daughter, and son-in-law, Paula and John Hicks, also of Waxahachie; grandchildren Kari Curtis, Rita Heflin, and Jerry Hicks; great grandchildren Ryan Heflin, Katie Heflin, Alison Heflin, Kelsie Curtis, and Chloe Curtis. She is preceded in death by parents Wayne and Ava Frances (Modlin) Himes, brother Jack Hines, and sister Fern Porter.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2006 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Dr. Fred Campbell officiating. Pallbearers will be Paul Porter, David Porter, Jerry Hicks, Ken Heflin, Kim Curtis, and Ken Nichols. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery.
