Travis Esselman

Travis "Dwight" Esselman, age 65, a lifelong resident of Waxahachie passed away on January 26, 2013. Dwight was born on November 24, 1947 at the Waxahachie Sanitarium to Travis Weldon and Dorlis Ray Kirk Esselman Grady. Mr. Esselman attended grade school through high school in Waxahachie then attending Texas A&M Commerce from 1973 to 1975 where he learned how to teach Electrical trades, later teaching at WHS. He married Ann Larkin on November 21, 1970. Dwight was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Esselman was an electrician all of his life. He worked with Esselman Electric, then to E & H Electric and then on to his own business, Esselman Lamp Repair, then for Maverick Electric Supply and the Home Depot Electrical Dept. when they opened. He got sick in 1995 and was diagnosed after many doctors with Dementia and Pick's Disease, better known as Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia in August of 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, both sets of grandparents and a brother-in-law, Lee Winkelmann. Dwight was an avid deer hunter who also enjoyed coin collecting, going to garage sales and drinking beer with his buddies. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann Larkin Esselman of Waxahachie; 3 daughters, Theresa Burkhalter and husband Chris of Waxahachie, Carrie Maldonado and fiancé Barney Castillo of Waxahachie and Phoebe and husband Nathan Wright of Emory; 1 sister, Carolyn Winkelmann of Waco; 7 grandchildren, Sam & Stephen Burkhalter, Taylor & Javier Aguayo, Kelsie & Juan Hernandez, Orlando Maldonado and Elizabeth and Alexis Wright; 2 great grandchildren, Jayden Aguayo and Moses Hernandez and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Leroy Fenton officiating. Interment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery . Pallbearers will be Chris Burkhalter, Sam Burkhalter, Barney Castillo, Orlando Maldonado, Nathan Wright and Javier Aguayo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Sullivan, Freddie Hopkins, Juan Falcon, Billy Dulin and Nick Maldonado. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
