SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, November 23, 2007, at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, with Rev. Richard Smith, pastor of the Farley Street Baptist Church of Waxahachie, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa, Texas, and Wayne Boze Funeral Home of Waxahachie.
BIOGRAPHY: Mr. Overdirth was born August 26, 1927 in Ennis, Texas. He served in the U. S. Army from 1946 to 1947. He was a lifelong resident of Waxahachie and Ellis County. He married Eva Lou Proffitt on December 22, 1950 in Waxahachie. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2005. Mr. Overdirth was a machine operator for Certain-Teed Roofing Company and Tamko Roofing in Dallas for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Farley Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie.
SURVIVORS: 1 daughter: Belinda Elms and husband Mark of Pampa; 2 sons: Tony Overdirth Jr., and wife Cyndie of Grapevine, and James Overdirth and wife Linda of Waxahachie: 1 sister; Christine Autrey of Waxahachie; 4 granddaughters: Ginger Tanem of Cleburne, Tanya Elms of Pampa, Melissa Overdirth of Allen and Stephanie Carter of Dallas; 4 grandsons: Josh Overdirth and Jeremy Woodard, both of Waxahachie, David Overdirth of Joplin, Missouri, and Rusty Overdirth of Alvarado; 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Scott Overdirth; his parents, Tony P. and Bessie Overdirth; and by an infant daughter, Scarlett LaRue Overdirth.
