Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10 AM at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home located at 1826 W. Highway 287 Business in Waxahachie. Interment will follow at the Red Oak Cemetery.
Tonja was born on November 6, 1951 to Delmont and Bette Schultz in Norfolk, Nebraska. She graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1970 and she was a manager at Race Trac for 19 years. Tonja was a member of the Cowboy Church of Ellis County and attended when she could but with her failing health, she would tune in online to hear the service. She had a heart the size of Texas and was always willing to help someone in need. Tonja enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes but also did like to go out to eat as well. Visiting with her friends and family was something that Tonja really loved. She liked how she could still stay connected with them thru Facebook as well. One of her favorite things to do was traveling and going to the beach. Her sense of humor could make anyone laugh.. but she certainly had no problem being up front and honest with you too.. Tonja had lots of friends and often people thought of her as a surrogate mother. She will be missed by her family and friends, but she will never be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one grandson.
Tonja is survived by her children, Christine Welch Ybarra and her husband, Russell, Candy Welch Tipton and her husband, Jason, and Stacy Welch; grandchildren, Hayley Ybarra, Ashley Ybarra, Jodie Tipton, Makenzie Holcomb and Kacie Tipton; and great grandson, Kutter Allen Costoe.
