Timothy Alexander Mahoney, 88, of Hillsboro passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at home. He was born in Dallas, Texas on January 28, 1927 to Frank Alexander and Lula Mae Mahoney. He grew up in Dallas until he enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1944. He proudly participated in action at Iwo Jima where he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart.
The things Tim was most proud of was being a Marine, his Irish heritage, and of his family. He enjoyed camping, having a farm, traveling to the beach, reading, playing cards and video games, and being a Pawpaw. He was always there for his grandchildrens events, rather it be a sporting event, a school play, or welcoming his great grand-children into the world he never missed a moment.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Naomi Ruth, and their son Timothy Michael Mahoney; siblings Charles Mahoney, Jennie Lou Hamm, Patsy Mulder and Dennis Mahoney.
He is survived by his son Randy Mahoney of Waxahachie, and daughter Gloria Mahoney of Hillsboro; his granddaughter Tamara Rodgers and husband Matt of Fort Worth, and great-granddaughter Naomi Rodgers; his grandson Brad Montgomery and wife Kasey of Hillsboro, and great-grandsons Porter Parker Montgomery; his granddaughter Amanda Bodkins and husband Justin of Hillsboro and great-grandson Cason Bodkins; and sister Marie Smith of Duncanville.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
Services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Little Bethel Cemetery, Duncanville.
