Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend, Thomas “Tommy” Steven Grimes Jr. of Waxahachie passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the age of 40 years at City Hospital at White Rock.
Thomas was born in Dallas, TX on November 29, 1980 and grew up in Forreston, TX. He graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1999. While in high school, he met his wife, Jamie, on the school bus his sophomore year (1996). They were married in 2003 and have 2 amazing children. He was an amazing husband and father. Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved fishing and just being outside. Thomas worked at The Home Depot in Waxahachie for 15 years. Then changed careers in 2015 to start working at Rockett Special Utility District. His coworkers at Rockett were his family. Thomas has a strong relationship with God. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Waxahachie. Thomas always referred to himself as anti-social. He kept his circle small. However, he has truly made an impact on so many lives. Thomas was an artist in more ways than I have ever seen. He had a God given talent. Thomas could oil paint, draw or sketch with any writing utensil, paint murals on walls, write poetry and songs, take beautiful outdoor photos, and make anything out of wood. He was a graphic designer. He designed t-shirts, flyers, business cards, logos, CD covers, and photo editing. Thomas was great with interior and landscape design. He was also a music producer. He had a natural eye and ear for anything creative without ever being taught. Thomas was able to do all of his own handyman work at the house. Thomas had a big collection of comic books and figures. He liked baseball and football. Thomas enjoyed playing video games with his son and watching scary movies. He enjoyed watching cartoons and tiktok videos with his daughter.
Thomas is preceded in death by his father, Steve Grimes, maternal grandparents, Jake and Antonia Escamilla, and paternal grandmother Frances Grimes.
