Thomas Collins, Jr.

Thomas Joseph Collins, Jr., 59 of Waxahachie passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Collins was Superintendent of Waxahachie from 2007-2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday February 4, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waxahachie with interment following at the Waxahachie City Cemetery. Mr. Collins was born in Gary, Ind. He attended the University of Indiana on a football scholarship. He gave 34 years to teaching, coaching and administration. Mr. Collins attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waxahachie. He was an avid cyclist and enjoyed a game of golf when baseball season finished. He married Sheri Denise Bawcom July 18, 1987 in Mineral Wells, TX. Survivors include his wife, Sheri Collins; son, Boomer Collins and wife, Rachel of Waxahachie; a daughter, Bridgett Collins of Dallas, TX; sister, Kathy Trapane and husband, Sammy of Crown Point, Ind., Karen Collins of Hammond, Ind.; brother-in-law, Butch Bawcom and wife, Vickie, of Granbury, TX; and nieces and nephews, Jennifer Trapane, Christopher Trapane, and wife, Sheri, Tye Bawcom and wife, Brittany, Logan Bawcom and wife, Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Collins, Sr. and Mary K. Nicksic Collins. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. A rosary prayer service will be recited at 5:30 p.m. for those wanting to attend.
