On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, Terry J. Webber, resident of Oak Leaf, TX, loving father, and part-time degenerate, died at 66 years old.
Terry was born on November 5, 1954 in Lawrence, KS to Bill and Barbara Webber. He spent his schoolyard years cultivating what he would often refer to as his “superior intellect” and scalding wit. After graduating from high school, Terry decided to aim even higher by enlisting in the United States Air Force in July 1972. One year later, through forces unknowable to man, Terry married Sharon Fincher in June of 1973. Their 35-year marriage produced the two angels we know as Chris and Cindy Webber. After four completely honorable years of service, Terry, as well as his commanding officers, decided that it was time for him to separate from the Air Force and pursue a career in hopping from job to job until something stuck. In that pursuit, he managed to acquire an Associate’s degree in Applied Science from the prestigious Mountainview Community College in 1992. Terry spent the bulk of his professional life starting as a telephone lineman at Southwestern Bell. As computer capability increased in the industry, Terry branched off to support Unix and all things operating system for computers. He moved from Southwestern Bell to MCI/WorldCom as a Unix specialist, before spending the last 20 years of his working life as a technical consultant for what was initially EDS and stayed in that role through various corporate acquisitions and mergers as a Disaster Recovery specialist with Linux and high value storage systems. He utilized his “superior intellect” in increasing roles as a technical specialist in Information Technology.
Terry lived the life of a passionate renaissance man with an uncanny ability to infuse his love of bourbon and making people uncomfortable into virtually every aspect of his life. There was never a bigger smile on his face than when he managed to accomplish both in the presence of the people he loved. Even in his last weeks, Terry was sure to get a smile or chuckle from the doctors and nurses taking care of him through his wit and at times, naughty, or self-deprecating sense of humor. Terry was incredibly well liked or loved by all he encountered.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Bill, his mother, Barbara, and his son, Chris. One aspect of joy for Terry is the knowledge that he’s been reunited with his son Christopher Daniel who passed away in spring of 2015. He is survived by his three children, Cindy Webber, Nick Wells, and Shyenne Wells, his three grandchildren, Ashlynn Chovanetz, Tate Christopher Edmonson, and Mia Wells, his former wife Sharon Webber, his brothers, Scott and Marvin Webber, stepmother Judith Webber and several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 16th, 2021 at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home on U.S. 287 Business Rd. at 10:00 am. Flowers or donations may be sent to 104 Locust Drive Red Oak, Texas 75154.
