Tehama Thompson

Tehama Lee Thompson, 88, of Waxahachie, formerly of Corsicana, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 at Sterling House Assisted Living in Desoto. She was born on January 22, 1924 in Italy, Texas to Houston and Susie Wood Batson. Tehama was caring, self-sacrificing, generous and forgiving. She came to know the lord at an early age and was a long time member of Community Baptist Church in Corsicana. After moving to Waxahachie in 2006, she joined First Baptist Church. Tehama was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who loved her. The simple things in life mattered the most to her. She was the epitome of a homemaker. Her talents for cooking, sewing, and gardening were well known. She was also a deadeye with both rifle and the pistol. Thunderstorms, snakes and the darkness of night struck fear in her heart. She always pulled for the Dallas Cowboys. Tehama was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Hinton Eugene Bridgewater and Wayland W. Thompson; son Larry Eugene Bridgewater; son in law, Steven Adams Kelley; and brothers, Haskell Batson, Victor Batson, Ray Batson and Farrell Batson. Tehama is survived by her daughter, Cindy Nix and David of Waxahachie; granddaughter: Chesney Colleen Wilson and Bob of Georgia; Step-sons, Les Thompson and Marc Thompson both of Corsicana, grandchildren: Rosemary Stegall and Brannon of Mansfield, Brad Nix and Sarah of Houston, Wayland Thompson, Cody Thompson and Kacie Thompson all of Katie; great grandchildren: James Nix, Abigail Stegall and Natalie Nix; Brothers and Sisters and their spouses; Gerald and Sue Batson of Venus, LaVada and Joe Borsellino of Corsicana, Billy and Susie Batson, Wanda and Pat Baldeschwiler, and Diane and Mike Van De Mark all of Waxahachie; sister in law, Juanita Batson of Ovilla; and numerous nieces and nephews, all who will miss her dearly. She is also survived by her faithful and loving dogs, Baby and Sugar. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:30 - 7:00 PM Monday, September 24, 2012 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate Tehama's Life will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Tehama's nephew, Rev. Brent Batson officiating. Interment will follow at Waxahachie City Cemeterty. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Ellis County SPCA, 2570 FM 878 Waxahachie, Texas 75165.
