Suzanne “Suzy” Hays, 75, of Waxahachie, Texas died peacefully at Baylor, Scott & White Hospital in Waxahachie, Texas on Tuesday December 27th, 2022, surrounded by her friends and family.

Suzy was born October 4th, 1947, at Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas, Texas to William B and Geraldine L Barber.  Suzy attended school in Waxahachie, Texas where she was a graduate of Waxahachie High School, Class of 1965.

In 1968 Suzy married Michael L Owens of Waxahachie and had two sons, Michael T and Matthew W.  In 1974 Suzy and Michael moved to Texarkana, Arkansas, returning many years later to their hometown of Waxahachie.  Suzy and Michael were married for 34 years.

In 2008 Suzy was reunited and fell in love with lifelong friend Thomas W Hays of Waxahachie and the two were married in 2010.

Suzy was a past member of the Junior Service League of Waxahachie, a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as well as having sat on and chaired many social and educational related organizations in both Waxahachie and Texarkana.  Suzanne was a member at the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie, Texas.

Suzy was the consummate hostess and her love for entertaining was only over-shadowed by her love of people.  Her radiant personality was a warmth to all who came to know her, and she lived life with a smile on her face.

Suzy is survived by her husband Thomas W Hays, children Michael T Owens and wife Jennifer L Owens of Keller, Texas, Matthew W Owens of Kanab, Utah; Stepchildren Hope Zettler and husband Bryan Zettler of New Braunfels, Texas and Alan Hays of Golden, Colorado; Grandchildren Hunter Owens of Dallas, Texas, Madeleine Owens of Dallas, Texas and Emma Owens of Cedar Hill, Texas.  Suzanne was preceded in death by stepchild Thomas W Hays Jr Waxahachie, Texas and her parents William “Bill” Barber and Geraldine Ledwell Barber of Waxahachie, Texas.

Services are to be held on Saturday February 25th at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie, Texas.
