Martha Sue Braden, 92 of Waxahachie, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at her residence in Waxahachie. She was born September 12, 1922 in Tyler, Texas to the late John "JC" Howle and Sarah Rosenstein Howle. Susie was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and received her master's degree in Art History from Southern Methodist University. She and her husband owned and operated Braden's Automotive in Waxahachie for many years. Susie was a three term member of the Waxahachie City Council, serving as Mayor Pro Tem for one term and served many years on the Park Board. She was a member of many clubs including, Gardner's Limited, Historic Waxahachie, Inc., and National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Heirloom Club, Friday Book Club, The Shakespeare Club and also The Supper Club and Fun Club. Susie was an original member of the Waxahachie Crape Myrtle Council, she is ‘Miz Myrtle'; for many years writing an article for the Waxahachie Daily Light on the care of crape myrtles. She loved to travel, visiting many countries worldwide with her husband and friends. Susie was an avid gardener who loved caring for her many flower gardens. She was a Master Gardener, Susie believed in passing her love of gardening and beautifying Waxahachie to all. She enjoyed playing Mah Jong every week with her ‘Mah Jong Group'. Most of all she loved Waxahachie and was so proud of the Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas. She is survived by her son, Hubert Braden III and wife Gina; her daughter, Cathey Jinich and husband Dan; her grandchildren, Chris McCormick, Rebecca Braden-Grady and husband Wayne, Bart Braden, Braden Ackley and Gillian Braden; her great grandchildren, Miranda Braden, Jaxon and Cooper Grady, Ty, Zoe and Tobey McCormick. She was preceded in death by her parents, JC and Sarah Howle and also by her husband Hubert Braden Jr. Services to celebrate Martha's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at the Waxahachie City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2014 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
