Susan Kay Hatch, 62, passed away on March 12, 2016, in Waxahachie. She was born on May 14, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth and attended Texas A&M University.
Susan married Weldon B. Hatch III on April 7, 1973, in Fort Worth. They met while both working at the Fort Worth Zoo.
Susan spent many years as a volunteer Camp Fire Club Leader and Cub Scout Leader. She was always ready with a craft project and willing to load up the car to take a bunch of kids camping in the woods. Her camp meals cooked over a campfire were legendary. After her children were grown she continued to volunteer at Camp Fire Camp El Tesoro for family camping weekends and as a pen pal ‘mail fairy' for the summer camp counselors, sending care packages full of fun.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon B. Hatch III, and her parents Helen Scott and Garland Gattis Wallace.
She is survived by her brother, James Wallace of Roanoke; daughter, Sara Hatch Mitchell and her husband Vernon Mitchell; son, Brad Hatch and his wife Michelle Hatch; and three young grandsons, Garrett Hatch, Elijah Mitchell and Wyatt Hatch.

Private family burial will be held at Auburn Cemetery.
