Steven “Steve” Leslie Skipper “Skip” passed away at the age of 69 in Morgan, TX on February 7, 2024 at home in his sleep. Steve is survived by his wife Anita Skipper; sister Shirley Lawler; children Shelli Acker, Heather Randolph, Joshua & Mayra Skipper, Joseph & Stephanie Skipper, Jonathan & Jessica Cerrone, and Lance & Sara De Leon. He had 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Sandra Batson and his son Scott Skipper.
Steve was born September 13, 1954 in Waxahachie, TX to Sam Skipper and Christine Skipper Chandler. Steve graduated from Red Oak High School in 1972. After high school, he attended Navarro Jr. College where he played one semester of football before coming home to be married and raise a family.
When he returned home, he continued his career in steel work and welding at Chaparral Steel in Waxahachie, TX. He later spent many years driving trucks for Coca-Cola. His passion and knowledge for welding was always in the back of his mind. He opened his own business, S & S Welding out of Red Oak, TX. Where his sons later worked alongside him. This business led him to working on the pipeline where he was a Certified Welding Inspector. This allowed him the opportunity to travel and see many different places within the United States. He was retired and proud to be running forCounty Commissioner of Bosque County at the time of his passing.
Steve was an active member in his church and loved the Lord. He enjoyed fellowshipping, watching westerns, showing classic cars, fishing, sports, and spending time with his family, especially his 17 grandchildren who knew him as Papaw. He will be missed tremendously, but his family and friends take heart in knowing that Steve is at peace and in the presence of the Lord.
