Stella Coward

Stella Marie Pettit Coward, passed from this earthly existence on April 19th, 2014 at the age of 78. She was born May 8th 1935 to Robert Lee and Evelyn Dulaney Pettit in Fort Worth. Stella was raised in Fort Worth and attended the First Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Pascal High School in 1953, and TCU in 1958. She married Noel H. Coward Sr. on April 12th 1957 in Fort Worth Texas. Stella attended Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science and received her Texas Funeral Directors license in 1959. Noel and Stella owned and operated Coward Funeral Home in Midlothian from 1964-1995. In their free time Stella followed Noel and his passion for magic that took them around the world. Stella was a member of the Texas Associations of Magicians for 54 years and it's Secretary/Treasurer for 11 years. Stella was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians for 51 Years. Stella taught public school for 18 years in Red Oak and Midlothian. She was a life member of the Ladies of the Leaf Literary Club in Midlothian, Charter Member of the TCU chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha, and a member of the TCU ZTA Key Women for many years. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Lee Pettit III, daughter Corey Coward, and husband Noel H Coward Sr. She is survived by her son Noel and wife Mariah Coward of Maypearl; her daughter Courtney Prather of Midlothian; her sister Tina Phillips of Fort Worth, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 25th 2014, 3 PM at Midlothian Cemetery in Midlothian, Texas with Dr. Rick Davis officiating. Family Visitation will be Thursday April 24th 2014 from 6pm to 8pm at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie, Texas.
