Stanley Praslicka
February 21, 1928 - March 21, 2004
Stanley Charles Praslicka, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather,
passed away peacefully on March 21, 2004, at his home in Waxahachie.
Stanley was born February 21, 1928 in Ennis, Texas. He brought joy to
everyone he met with his friendly smile and kind-hearted nature. Stanley "never
met a stranger." Wherever he went, he quickly made new friends. He was a good
neighbor, and will be remembered by those who knew and loved him for his
helpfulness and giving spirit. The Ellis County farm that he shared for over 50
years with his late wife, Ann, was more than just his home. Like his father before
him, he worked the land with love and pride. It was the place he taught his
children and grandchildren about sharing, hard work, and God's goodness - gifts
his family will always cherish. Throughout his many years of farming, he also
participated in numerous research studies for Texas A&M University to help
develop improved varieties of cotton and new farming technology. He was
always generous with his time in these areas because he knew of the potential
benefits for his fellow farmers. He also served as Chairman of the Integrated
Pest Management (IPM) Steering Committee for Ellis and Navarro Counties.
Stanley graduated from one of the Air Training Command's airplane mechanics
training courses, and proudly served his country in the 10th Rescue Squadron of
the United States Air Force during the 1940s. He was an active member of St.
Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his children, Frances Mangan and husband Steve, Diane
Ramsey, Gene Praslicka and wife D'Etta, Kathleen Davis, and Karen Brasovan
and husband Mike; grandsons Justin Praslicka, Brandon Praslicka, Jon Davis,
Steven Mangan, Jr. and Michael Brasovan; granddaughters Angela Ramsey,
Jennifer Davis, Stephanie Mangan, Emily Praslicka, Kate Praslicka and Rachael
Brasovan; and great granddaughter Makenzie Nau. He was preceded in death
by his parents, John and Mary Praslicka; his brother John Praslicka; and his
sisters, Albina Dubec, Mary Roznovsky and Hattie Dubec.
A Rosary will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waxahachie this
Wednesday, March 24, at 8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 25,
with services at 3:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at
Waxahachie City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, it was Stanley's wish that donations be made to the St. Joseph
Catholic Church Building Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
