Shirley Klindworth Singleton, born July 16, 1937, in Dallas, Texas to Lauretta E. Smith Vilbig & Lawrence "Larry" W. Klindworth passed away April 23, 2014. She married George H. Singleton on March 15, 1958, in Orleans, France, and returned to Dallas, Texas in 1958. They moved to Waxahachie, Texas in 1963 after graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, and George working for IBM in Dallas. She was a graduate of the Hockaday School in Dallas Class of 1955, member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at the University of Texas, founding member of Marvin Elementary School Parent Teachers Association, founding member of the Pink Ladies at W.C. Tenery Community Hospital in Waxahachie, active member and Past President of Gardeners Limited, member of the Crape Myrtle Council and The Friday Book Club in Waxahachie. She was named Crape Myrtle Queen in 2003 at the July Crape Myrtle Festival. She was past owner and Vice-President of Western Data Services, Inc., a data processing company for counties, appraisal districts, cities and schools in appraisals, taxation and voter registration. She and her husband, George, sold the company after twenty years, and after a short retirement, she went to work for Citizens National Bank of Texas as Vice President and became a member of the Board of Directors. She is preceded in death by their daughter, Shannon E. Singleton, her parents, and her in-laws, Marvin E. Singleton, Jr. and Gertrude R. Singleton, her sister and brother in-law, Lauretta K. and Lee P. Dudley of Richmond, VA., and her brother Charles J. Vilbig of Dallas. Survivors include her husband of fifty six years, George H. Singleton, son Marvin E. "Mark" Singleton, III, daughter in-law, Dr. Stephanie J. Singleton, grandson, M.E. "Meson", IV, granddaughters, Mallory E. and Shelby J. Singleton, brother, L.W. "Bill" Klindworth, II, and wife Sandy and numerous nieces and nephews, and special family friend, Scott K. Montgomery. The Singleton Family would like to express their extreme gratitude to Shirley's caregivers who lovingly tended to her over the past year. In particular, our deepest gratitude to Dorothy Hollins for her faithful care and friendship for many, many years. A memorial service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at The Avenue Church of Waxahachie, with Dr. Joe Langley and Bro. David Brown officiating. Those serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Officers and Directors of Citizens National Bank of Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the M.E.
