Shannon Worthy

Shannon passed away peacefully on November 7, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born to Ross Sterling and Tommie Faye Worthy on May 22, 1957 in Corsicana. Shannon attended Mexia State School from 1964 until 1985 when she moved into Centex Group Homes in Waxahachie. Shannon resided in the group home until August 2010 when her mother brought her home to live in Avalon. In 2011 she moved into the Legend Oaks Living Center in Ennis. She enjoyed being independent, participating in Special Olympics and socializing with her friends. Shannon was most passionate about her time at the Centex workshop where she was proud to earn a paycheck. She had a fascination with Elvis Presley, John Wayne, Garth Brooks and The Judds. She loved Mickey Mouse and was excited to make two trips to Disney World to see her favorite Disney characters. She is preceded in death by her father, maternal grandparents, Tommy and Opal Steele, paternal grandparents, I.W. and Ethel Worthy, Uncles Joe Steele, Charles Steele, Raymond Smith and Aunts Floriene Grant, Virginia Shrader and Irene Woodard. Shannon is survived by her mother, sisters Sharon and husband Jeff Goss and Susan Worthy, nephews Jason Goss and wife Sarah, Justin Goss and wife Courtney, Jonathon Goss, niece Amy Goss and great-niece MaKaela Goss. Uncles Neilan Steele, James Steele and his wife, Amelia; Aunt Geraldine Callaway and numerous cousins. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday November 9th at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel, Wayne Boze Funeral Home with the Rev. Grady Cashion officiating. Pallbearers are Jason Goss, Justin Goss, Jonathon Goss, Neilan Steele, James Steele, David Steele, Greg Steele, and Curtis Callaway. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Texas Lions Camp at www.lionscamp.com or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Legend Oaks Living Center and Bristol Hospice for the loving care they gave Shannon.
