Shannon Michelle McGuire, lifetime Waxahachie resident, passed away late Saturday night. She was born in Waxahachie to Kent and Constance (Smith) McGuire. Shannon who was a 2003 Waxahachie High School graduate was an outstanding student in the top 5% of her class. She was a Lieutenant for the Cherokee Charmers, a class officer, a member of the National Honor Society, Year Book Staff, Student Council, Business Professionals of America and the high school Tennis team. Shannon recently completed her second year at the University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and the Communications Council, as well as being a Summer Counselor at the Waxahachie YMCA. Shannon was a member of the First Baptist Church, Waxahachie.

Shannon came into our lives as a happy surprise and faced life with a smile and a joyous spirit. She will be missed by her family and the many friends she embraced with an open heart. She is survived by her parents, Kent and Constance Smith McGuire of Waxahachie; maternal grandparents, June and T.E. Smith of Streetman, TX.; paternal grandfather, Bernard James McGuire of Cuba, MO.; brothers, Stephen Harris McGuire and wife Carly of Austin, Conor James McGuire of College Station; aunts and uncles, Glennis Clancey and husband Bill, Charles McGuire and wife Kathy, Ellen Kilgos and husband Gary, Joseph McGuire and wife Ann, Sandra Briggs and husband Larry; and numerous cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Virginia McGuire, her uncle Michael Smith and her great-grandmother Oma Harris.

The family will receive friends and relatives 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, 315 N. Rogers, Waxahachie with Dr. Leroy Fenton and Jerry Carter officiating. Pallbearers will be uncles, Charles McGuire, Joseph McGuire, and Gary Kilgos; cousins, Bryan McGuire, Shawn McGuire, and Matthew Kilgos. Interment will follow in Waxahachie City Cemetery.
