Samuel Philip Dyess, 82, of Waxahachie, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 1, 1935, in Van Horn, Texas, to the late Sam and Virgie Dyess. Samuel (Red) served in the National Guard as Specialist 3rd Class and was honorably discharged in 1956. He worked for the Texas Highway Department of Engineers for 18 years and was self employed for 28 years in the landscape and pest control business. He was a long-time member of Brown (College) Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, LaRue, daughter, Terri Ousley, and her husband, Tim, of Mission; daughter, Dana Stanton, and her husband, Todd of Waxahachie; four grandchildren, Vince Ousley (Brandi), Amber Tuley (Justin), Jerrod Ousley (Melissa), Kristen Watson, and Kirstie Cole (Mark); 9 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Norman Carter, and a special friend who was like a brother, Henry Wakeland and his wife, Jean. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Sam and Virgie Dyess and sister, Jean Carter.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 22, 2017, at Brown Street Church of Christ. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas.
