Sally Kathryn Miller Young, 85, was born January 15, 1922 in Bartlett, Texas to Katherine Talbot and Randle Westbook Miller. She passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, May 20, 2007 surrounded by family and friends.
Sally was raised in Bartlett, Texas and attended San Marcus State University where she met and fell in love with I. H. Young. They were married on July 18, 1942 and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. They led an exciting military life living all over the world.
Sally was a member of First United Methodist Church-Waxahachie, the Fidelis Sunday School class, Wednesday Morning Bible Study, United Methodist Women; leader and originator of a
prayer chain; Renfro Healthcare Center volunteer where she was recognized as é�"Volunteer of the Yearé�" by the Texas Department of Health, and DAR é�"Woman of the Year.é�" She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, I. H. Young, and her sister Marjory Brashear.
Sally is survived by her beloved daughter, Jennie and her husband Steve Hargrove of Dallas; grandchildren, Stephen, Kathryn, and Trevor; nephews, Arthur Brashear, III and Randle Brashear; niece, Saranne McCalley.
Sally will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, é�"Grandsé�", dear friend to so many, and a devoted Christian.
The family would like to thank Lighted Pathways Hospice, her devoted caregivers, Ethel, Carolyn, Janiece, and Catrina for their wonderful skills and gentle compassion. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of her Life will be 10 AM Wednesday, May 23 at the First United Methodist Church, Waxahachie with interment at the DFW National Cemetery, Dallas. Pallbearers will be Gail Farnham, Butch Nelson, Henry Neuhoff, Clem Pearson, Bobby Presley, Bob Rader and Elmo Reeves.
Donations may be made to the Ellis County SPCA, 2750 FM 878, Waxahachie, TX. 75165; Baylor Hospital Auxiliary, 1405 W. Jefferson, Waxahachie, TX. 75165; First United Methodist Church, 505 W. Marvin, Waxahachie, TX. 75165.
