Sally Martinez

It is with the utmost sadness that our family announces the passing of our sweet mom, Sally Martinez, after a brief illness. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to those in our family.  She will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her.  Sally was born on May 2, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas to Apolonio and Francisca Campos. She was the eldest of 11 children.

In the spring of 1970, she met the love of her life, Sam Martinez in Waxahachie, Texas.  Sam and Sally married on July 6, 1970, in Waxahachie, Texas where the couple lived together throughout their 52 year marriage.  She was an active member of Bethesda Assembly of God church and worked in the loan industry, all the while raising her family.  She was known for her indomitable spirit, sense of humor, and spunky attitude.  She loved thrift shopping, her pets and working in her yard, even though we told her she was crazy for being out in the heat.  That never stopped her from what we affectionately called “pidlin’ in the yard.”  She was a great cook and without a doubt made the best bacon chile and homemade tortillas this side of the border.  We will miss her greatly, as she was the center of our family’s universe.

She is survived by her husband, Sam Martinez; Daughter, Inna Jean Aguilar (Scott Magee); Son, Samuel Jeffrey Martinez; Daughter, Sara Louise Garay (Abram Adrian); 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be Friday, September 9, 2022, 10:00 am. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1825 US-287 Business, Waxahachie, Texas 75165. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the ASPCA or local animal shelter in her name, as Sally was an avid lover of animals – many of whom she gave a home to over the years.
