Ruth Joyce Pitts, 89 of Waxahachie, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 at Baylor Medical Center Waxahachie. She was born to the late Harry and Elizabeth Wilcox on January 31, 1920 in Dushore, PA.
Ruth was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie where she enjoyed working with the Christian Quilters and being a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was an avid cook and loved baking and decorating specialty cakes. Ruth will be missed by so many who knew her and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Tommy Pitts and his wife, Virginia of Lancaster, John Pitts and his wife, Edith of Waxahachie; her sister-in-laws, Ruby Smith of Huffman, Texas, Dean Pape of LaGrange, Texas, and Margaret Pitts of Waxahachie; her 3 grandchildren, Meridith Hardwick and her husband, Paul, Michelle Waters and her husband, Chris, and John Pitts, II; and 4 great grandchildren, Justin Gill, Ryan Hardwick, Mallory Hardwick, and Colby Waters.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Tommie Pitts; and by her sister, Helen Shelleman.
Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Burial Park.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the Baylor's Medical Center Women's Auxilliary, 1405 West Jefferson Street, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.
