It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Russell E. Finley, who departed this life peacefully on November 29, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on October 1, 1947, in Chetopa, Kansas, Russell was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished member of his community.
Throughout his life, Russell was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering dedication to his family. He was a truck driver by trade and a carpenter and handyman by choice, taking immense pride in sharing his wisdom and stories with his family.
Russell leaves behind a large and loving family, including his wife, DeLois Finley, of Cement, OK; children: Betty Armstrong (Glenn) of Waxahachie, TX, Patsy Mata (Luis) of Red Oak, TX, Jackie Williams (Michal) of Cement, OK, and Rick Finley (Carrie) of Waxahachie, TX; grandsons: Chance, Robert (Mindy), Josef (Chelsea), Collin (Angel), Steven, Albert, Marc, and David; granddaughters: Samantha, ReeAnn, Amber (AJ), Raina, Jessica, Christie (Kevin), Janessa, Jerika, Jenyfer, and Jazmin; and great-grandchildren: Nick, Jasper, Dakota, Milo, Maverick, Oliver, Kasen, Timothy, Athena, Elena, Makayla, Kaylee, Baileigh, and Lucy. He found great joy in the laughter of his grandchildren and the boundless curiosity of his great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the values and traditions he instilled in them.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Ann (Mike) Grover and Albert Finley; his first wife, Joan Finley; and his daughter, Beverly Wallace-Gibson.
Visitation will be held from 6–8 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 US 287 Business, Waxahachie, TX. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Russell E. Finley's remarkable life and the countless memories he created with those he loved.
Though Russell is no longer with us, his love and light will shine on through the generations he inspired. Rest in peace, Russell E. Finley. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
