Mrs. Parks, lifetime Ellis County resident, passed away Thursday morning at Pleasant Manor Care Center. She was born in Maypearl, TX. to PM and Atsy (Bishop) Parks. She was raised in Ellis County, and attended Nash school, Forreston High School, North American Riveting School, Grand Prairie, and the University Beauty School of Dallas. Mrs. Parks was self employed as a beautician for over fifty years. She was a fifty year member of Rebekah Lodge #381 of Waxahachie, the Women's Auxiliary of Baylor Hospital for over twenty years where she was a "Pink Lady" in the gift shop and was a member of the Waxahachie First Baptist Church.
Survivors are: her sister, Ruth Hays of Waxahachie; brother, Tommy Parks and wife Janie of Ferris; sisters-in-law, Inez Parks of Lancaster and Betty Parks of Ferris;
nieces and nephews, Emily Everett of Waxahachie, Carla Jones of Alexandria, VA., Tom Hays and wife Linda of Waxahachie, Judy McMullin and husband David of Lancaster, Mark Parks and wife Barbara of Lancaster, Leann McElyea and husband Danny of Montgomery, Jim Parks and wife Paula of Ferris, Pat (Parks) Salazar and husband Max of Ferris, Virginia Weaver of Midlothian, Elaine Tarin of Midlothian, Thelma Brandon and husband L. E. of Denton, Martha Ivy of Sardis, Barbara Ralston of Italy, Randy and Gayle Tobias and many great and great great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives. Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by her parents, PM and Atsy Bishop Parks; half sister, Willie Jackson; brothers, Walter Parks of Waxahachie, Julius Parks of Lancaster; Jim Parks of Ferris; brother-in-law, Finis Hays of Waxahachie; great nephew, Thomas Hays, Jr. of Waxahachie.
The family will receive friends and relatives 2-5 PM Sunday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2 PM Monday, August 2, 2004, in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Karl Fickling officiating. Members of the Rebekah Lodge will also participate. Pallbearers will be Tom Hays, Alan Hays, Brian Zettler, David Waidler, Mark Parks and Danny McElyea. Interment will follow at the Oak Branch Cemetery.
