Ruby Janway

Ruby C. Janway passed gently into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at her home in Waxahachie, Texas. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 2:00 pm in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of the Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017, from 12:30 to service time at 2:00 pm. Interment at DFW National Cemetery at a later date.

Ruby was born August 11, 1927, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Ples and Lillie Parker. Ruby grew up in central Oklahoma. After World War II she taught school in a one room school house, teaching grades 1 through 12 under a rural education grant. She married James Janway in 1947 and they were together for 66 years until his death in 2013. Ruby attended college and earned her Bachelor's Degree in the 50's and taught school in Canadian and Haywood, Oklahoma schools until her retirement in 1984. The Janways lived in McAlester, Oklahoma for 47 years before moving to Waxahachie, Texas to live with their son, Jerry. Ruby loved people and it was a family joke that you never should go to Walmart with her because she wouldn't leave until she had visited with everyone in the store. Ruby also loved crafts of all kinds and visiting with friends and family. She was a 55 plus year member of The Order of Eastern Star.

Ruby is survived by her sister, Marjorie Short; brother, Tom Gray; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Janway; granddaughter Heather and husband, David Roberts; grandsons John Janway and wife Gina, Zachary Janway and wife Samantha, Andrew Janway, Nicholas Janway and wife Cassandra; four great grandchildren, Preston and Hayden Roberts, Addison and River Janway and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers Ruby would be pleased to know that any acknowledgement of her passing would be made to The Cowboy Church of Ellis County, 2374 U.S. 287 access road Waxahachie, Texas 75167.
