Ruby Hayes

Ruby June Stroope Hayes, 83, of Waxahachie, passed away Thursday, July 19.

She was born to the late Garland and Annie Stroope, January 7, 1935 in Waxahachie, Texas. She married Don Hayes in November 1953 and they lived in Waxahachie most of their lives.

Ruby was affectionately called MeMa or Queen Bee. She worked as a secretary and "family central" at Stroope Pest Control for more than 40 years. She loved gathering her family and if you came to a get together, you became family. Ruby also loved to cook and try out new recipes. After she retired, she began to try out recipes that she found on Facebook.

Ruby was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church and its Covenant Class.

Ruby is survived by her husband Don Hayes, children Lori Peebles, Susan Williams, Joanna and Butch Campbell, Jay and Michelle Hayes, and Donna and John Willis.

Grandchildren: Mark, Shana, Sandie, Drew, Sarah, Michael, Michelle, Cassie, Hannah, Taylor, Cole, Kelsey, and Chris.

Great-Grandchildren: Meghan, Cooper, Meredith, Alisha, Clayton, Bobbie Grace, Abel, Marlee, Natalie, Brooklyn, Kylie, Chloe, Dennis, Harper, Kayden, Kenzie, Colby, Conner, and Carter.

Brother Jack Stroope and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Garland and Annie Stroope, son Michael, grandchildren Nicole, Amanda Lee, and Aaron. Son-in-laws Jerry Peebles and Walter Williams. Brothers O.T., Don, James, Jewel, Oscar, John, Bob, Thomas, and sister Dianne.

A private burial will be held at Lakeview Cemetery for family only.
